Marie Laynette “Nettie” Cole Danis, 80, passed away on February 9, 2025.
She was born February 21, 1944, to Raymond Delbert (Buck) and Irma Marie Smith Hensley. She attended various schools growing up. She was in the high school rodeo club, a member of the Choctaw Riding Club, barrel raced and pole bend, and ran for rodeo queen, and was successful. She was Marsh Valley Queen in 1960 and Pocatello Frontier Rodeo in 1962, and 1st attendant in the Blackfoot Frontier Rodeo 1962.
She married Harvey Ross Cole in 1963. They had 3 great sons, Alan Ross, Darin Lee, and Rick Jason Cole.
Nettie was #5 of 16 children. She is survived by her brothers, Robert, Deb, Dusty Crit, Buck Dale; sisters, Diane Davie, Sue Rosa, and Peggy Huerta. She is preceded in death by brothers, Ronald Jack, Thomas Ray, and Yank; sisters, Lois Ann Weerhiem, Penny LaRee Buffi, Robyn Kay, Sheila Stapleton, and Jody Charlson; granddaughter, Christina Acuna; and husband, Alan Danis.
She worked at various jobs potato harvest, various establishments as a bartender, and worked at ON (AMI).
Nettie was later divorced from Harvey in 1990. She then married Alan Danis. They moved to Garden Creek in American Falls, Idaho. They also had a nice little campground where they entertained different groups of events such as Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, weddings, reunions, birthdays, etc. and she enjoyed all of them.
Nettie's main loves were her boys and her animals. Fishing and camping and grooming her yards wherever she lived.
She loved her 6 grandchildren and her 4 great-grandsons. She had wonderful relatives and friends. After her husband passed in 2020, she sold her place and moved to Pocatello.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer.
