Maria was one of the first Samoan women to hold a high chief title. She was a woman who was greatly admired by her kindness, humility, and generosity.
Maria was married to the late high chief Taliga Vaiolo Suapilimai. They had ten children and an endless amount of children who she believed were God-given. She loved all who came to her for help, a place to stay, or even simply for a hot meal. She has lost in love many times over, yet she never lost her faith in God. Her late husband passed away very young, yet she raised a village on pure faith that Heavenly Father will provide, and sure enough, He did.
Maria has had six children and eight grandchildren serve in the United States armed forces. Her love for God, family, and country has been an example to all who knew her.
Maria has four surviving children, Sua, Morgan, Salevasa, and Rev. Manesa Suapilimai. She became a member of the LDS church shortly after arriving in Pocatello and has since lived a good life and has fought a good fight. Although she has returned to be with thee, she will be remembered and known as a woman who was faithful and loyal to our Lord and Savior.
