Margie Yvonne Davis Carlyle peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2014 surrounded by many of her family.
She was born March 16, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Melvin Davis and Eva (Micki) Oreno Davis. It was just the three of them for nine years until her younger brother joined the family. Margie graduated from Pocatello High School in 1956 and continued her education at Idaho State Vo-tech studying cosmetology. She cut hair for family and friends for most of her life. The summer of 1959 she was chosen as Idaho's representative for the Miss Universe pageant in Miami, Florida. During this time she was working at Farm Bureau and dating Tom Carlyle whom she later married on January 12, 1960 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had 4 children Scott Carlyle, Hamilton, OH, Doug Carlyle (Amber), Puyallup, WA, Traci Heiner, Provo, UT and Kaydene Nielsen (Chad), Pocatello, ID. She spent countless hours devoted to her family. Once her family was raised she worked with her husband in his business for 25 plus years.
Margie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her service in her faith ranged from ward Relief Society President, to stake and ward Young Women's President and with the Special Mutual youth. She was a gifted teacher and loved all those who she served and was happy to do whatever was asked of her. Her latest assignment was serving as a temple ordinance worker.
Margie was known for her rolls, doughnuts, fudge, hospitality, and love for people. She was a master seamstress, making anything from pajamas to wedding dresses. Her hand knitted sweaters were a treat to her family. Margie also enjoyed listening to music and loved to dance.
Margie is survived by her husband and 4 children. She is also survived by her brother Danny (Marilyn) Davis, her 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son in-law (Todd Heiner) and granddaughter (Savannah Carlyle).
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 8th at the Pocatello W. Stake Center, 3444 Hawthorne Road. A viewing will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilks Funeral Home as well as an hour prior to the service. Her interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
