Margaret Mitton

August 26, 1939 — July 12, 2010

Sarah Margaret Mitton, 70, of Pocatello, passed away peacefully at EIRMC in Idaho Falls with her family at her side. Margaret was born August 26, 1939 at her parent's home on North 6th in Pocatello. She earned the nickname “Shag” after a self-inflicted bad haircut. She loved terrorizing her family and the neighborhood. She grew up with her best friend (and older) niece Laree. She attended school at Bonneville Elementary, Franklin Jr. High and Pocatello high school.

At the age of 16, she married her sweetheart, Dean Mitton, at her parent's home on March 31, 1956. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 28, 1961. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous callings over the years including Primary, librarian, dance instructor (with Dean), Cub Scouts and Relief Society instructor. Margaret and Dean served a church mission for 23 months at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii.

Her favorite hobby and passion was her family, and everything she did in life was centered around them. She enjoyed crocheting (especially baby booties), finding 4-leaf clovers, traveling and camping. Margaret loved smooching babies and getting her grandchildren hooked on candy. She had a genuine talent for cooking and baking for her family and neighbors.
She had an exceptional ability to love, and she will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
