Margaret Marshall

January 5, 1925 — April 12, 2015

Marga'Lee Marshall passed away peacefully at age 90 at home on Sunday, April 12th,
surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Margaret Leah Hill on January 5, 1925 in Pocatello, Idaho and attended Jefferson
Elementary, Irving Jr. High and Pocatello High School. She finished her senior year and
graduated from Boise High School. Marga'Lee went on to attend business college in Boise then
worked for Idaho Power and the US Government Rationing Office. She returned to Pocatello
where she worked for ISU Vo-Tech while also working as a fashion model on the side.
That's when she met the dashing former Navy pilot and recent college graduate, Glen Marshall,
at a dance club in Pocatello. He swept her off her feet and eventually convinced her to marry
him. On their first date, so the story goes, he was taking her home in his sporty coup, turned a
sharp corner that caused her to lean into him. He surprised her with a sudden kiss. Margaret,
shocked, "I never kiss anyone on the first date!" Glen responded, "Well you just did." He denies
the act was anything but innocent and says she voluntarily leaned into the kiss. He proposed
less than a year later.
After marrying, Glen and Marga'Lee lived in San Francisco for about a year before returning to
Pocatello. Marga'Lee was a lifelong homemaker who raised four children, one foster child, and
many dogs. She loved to cook, bake bread and was a great dancer. She was an active member
of the LDS church, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Marga'Lee believed all people
should be treated with love and respect regardless of their beliefs and lived her life that way.
She was remarkably kind and generous to everyone, always opening her home to any person or
animal that needed comfort and encouragement.
Marga'Lee was an avid reader. Her favorite subject was animals, particularly dogs. In fact, after
she read Where the Red Fern Grows, she became such a fan that she convinced author, Wilson
Rawls, to come to Pocatello for a reading and book signing which helped publicize the book.
Marga'Lee was a lifelong champion of dogs. Her wish is that in leu of flowers, anyone interested
will please make a donation to the Pocatello Humane Society.
She is survived by Glen, her husband of 66 years, her sons, Richard Marshall (Jan, South
Pasadena, CA) and John Marshall (Cindy, Pocatello), daughters, Ann Hronek (Doug, Heber,
UT) and Jane Marshall (Pocatello), 19 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren and her
brother, Edward Hill, 94, of Orinda CA. The family is eternally grateful to Access Home &
Hospice for their excellent care during Marga'Lee's final weeks. A memorial service is planned
for some time in May.
Condolences may be sent to the family from this site.
