Margaret Jane Hitchcox, 80, passed away peacefully December 20, 2017 following an extended illness.
Margaret was born March 21, 1937 in McMinnville, Oregon, the daughter of Wilbur and Elizabeth Hopkins. Her mother passed away when she was two years old and her extended family helped care for her. While she was still young, her family moved to Brigham City, Utah. By age ten, they moved to Ogden, Utah where she completed her schooling when she graduated from Ogden High School.
Margaret worked various jobs, yet the one that had the most meaning to her was when she performed custodial duties in the Ogden LDS Temple. It was a special place to here. She loved animals and took particularly kind care of her pets. She loved to do beadwork and coloring.
Margaret married Edward Hitchcox on May 6, 1983 in Ogden. That marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on May 8, 1984. They adventures and career paths led them to reside in Utah, Washington, and Idaho during their 33 years of marriage. Their fondest memories were travelling to visit friends and family and the many beautiful places that surround them.
In March 2005, Ed and Margaret moved from Franklin, Idaho to Fort Hall, Idaho where they have resided since. She made dear friends everywhere she went. Her family wants to express their gratitude to their ward members for the friendships and compassion shown them over the years.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Edward Hitchcox and numerous nieces and nephews. They are comforted that she is reunited with her parents and other family members that have passed on before.
Memorial services for Margaret will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Pocatello 44th Ward Chapel on Highway 91 between Reservation and Ballard Roads, with Bishop Chad Harding conducting.
