Are you scared??? Then why are you Shaking???

Anyone who knew Kreg Sparks could count on a silly joke and a smile every time they saw Kreg.

Marcus “Kreg” Sparks passed away peacefully in his sleep, December 17, 2024.

Kreg was born February 21, 1952 in Pocatello, Idaho to Marcus (Sr) and Lenora Sparks. Kreg grew up around Pocatello and graduated Pocatello High School in 1971.

As an adult, Kreg learned many useful skills and worked at many jobs making him a “Jack of all Trades” and an expert at most of what he did. When it came to Kreg’s work, he was a perfectionist, and made sure every job was completed correctly and was something he would be proud to claim. He studied to become a Diesel Mechanic, and could fix anything with wheels. He learned home construction at a young age, and could do any part of building a home from the foundation to the roof, and everything between. He later worked road construction with E&G Contractors in Pocatello for many years, before working as a custodian at Pocatello Charter School, as well as he cleaned the Cancer Center at Portneuf for many years. In addition to working as a Custodian, he also worked for his own business mowing lawns and shoveling snow. There was no work that Kreg was afraid of and many people relied on his skills because there was not much he could not do.

Kreg was fun spirited and loved telling jokes and pulling funny pranks. His sister Chris recalls a time when he was 7 years old where he threw Ketchup all over himself and laid on the ground saying he had been attacked. Even as a young man he loved road construction as he would build roads while playing with his trucks.

Chris remembers wrestling matches with Kreg and him playing Little League and Football as a young man where he was skilled at both.

Kreg was had some ups and downs in relationships before meeting the love of his life, Dee Ann (Jensen) in February 1994 and they were married on Valentine’s Day 2002. They were made for each other. While Kreg and Dee Ann never had children together, it did not stop him from raising Dee Ann’s children as his own. In addition to Megan and James, Kreg also helped raise Nick Ridings, Jessy Ridings and Brendyn Findlay.

Dee Ann and Kreg helped raise several foster kids over the years including many children through Health and Welfare foster care, and with Dee Ann raised his Nephew Kayden Burrell from birth. Kreg also spent a great deal of time with Megan’s kids and from the time Adyn was born had a best buddy at his side. When Sage was born it was a case of the more the merrier. Kreg never left anyone out and made sure everyone felt his love. Kreg also had a special relationship with his mother-in-law, Freda Shellhorn. Kreg would often surprise her with lunch while stopping by to check on her.

While Kreg is so well known for his work, he also knew how to enjoy himself. His favorite thing was to go camping with his family. Kreg and Dee Ann would go to great lengths to get the whole family ready for camping trips to Rockland. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and just about anything outdoors.

Kreg is survived by his wife, Dee Ann (Jensen), Megan Ridings (Donovan Mills), James (Chastidy) Ridings, Eddy Sparks, Ken (Tomoko) Warren, Brendyn (Anika) Findlay, Nick Ridings, Jessy Ridings, Katarina, Kayden Burrell, and a number of foster kids who Kreg helped raise.

Kreg has many grandchildren, Russle Warren, Sarah Warren, Nicole Warren, Adyn Shellhorn, Eddy Sparks Jr, Tyson Sparks, Christina Sparks, Sage Davis, Zayne Findlay, Kale Garnett, Hunter Ridings, Grayson Ridings, and Oakley Ridings.

Kreg is survived by two siblings, Chris Freeberg, and Patricia Jones. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Marlys Jones, Robert Jones, Bud Jones, Darla Hillabrant, Sharon Kirby, Viginia Dryden, and Robert Sparks.

Kreg touched so many lives. We are all fortunate to have had him in our lives.
