Mable Joan Morrison passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family, Monday night, September 14, 2020.
Joan was born January 13, 1942, in Malad, Idaho, and was the 4th child of her parents, Alton Owen Ware and Emma Evans.
She grew up in Downey, Idaho and attended the Downey Elementary School where her mother was her 3rd grade teacher. She loved living in Downey and continually shared many fond memories of experiences with family and friends. She went on to graduate from Marsh Valley High School in 1960 after which she graduated from Grimm's Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Joan married her sweetheart, William Lynn Morrison, July 5, 1963. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. A couple of years later their life took them to Southern California where they would spend the next 25 years raising 5 children and gaining lifelong friendships. Joan loved her life in California and the lessons she learned there, but the pull to come home was strong and soon they returned to Marsh Valley. Joan and Lynn settled in McCammon the spring of 1988 and have been content to build and strengthen relationships with family and friends ever since. One of Joan's favorite places was her own front porch on Center Street where she loved to sit, visit, listen to her grandchildren play music and sing and of course bar-b-que.
Joan loved her family, friends, and neighbors, but mostly her Savior, Jesus Christ. Joan eagerly served Him not only through church callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; in Primary, Relief Society, Family History and Young Women's (her favorite!), but in her everyday acts of service toward anyone she met throughout her life.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 2 brothers and many more family and best friends. Joan was survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Lynn Morrison, her children, Valarie (Bill-deceased) Jenkins, Michael (Tina) Morrison, Jolyn (John) Thompson, Jennie (Adam) Rubio, and Greggory (Chrissy) Morrison, 18 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many "best friends' whom she loves with her whole heart.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2020 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in McCammon, Idaho. Interment will follow services in the Norton Cemetery.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
