Mabel Merrell, 86, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at a local long term care center. She was born the fifth of six children to Orson Pratt and Fanny Gwenlion (Stinger) Merrell on December 12, 1921 in Logan, Utah. As a baby, she and her family moved to Pocatello where she was raised and educated. Education was her life focus. She graduated from Pocatello High School, attended Idaho State College, the Southern Branch, U of I, B.Y.U., Oregon State, and finally Michigan State. She earned two BS degrees and a Masters degree. Her occupations included; grade school teacher, high school teacher, she was an extension agent in South Utah, a professor at San Jose and New York State College University of Oneanta where she retired.
