M. Ray North

December 16, 1922 — January 8, 2015

M. Ray North, 92, died peacefully at Elegant Assisted Living in Pocatello, ID on January 8, 2014. A veteran of World War II, he served in New Guinea and the Southern Philip¬pines as a Sergeant with the 49th Fighter Squadron and was awarded decorations.

Ray was born on December 16, 1922 in Modesto, CA to Edwin Coral North and Christine Belle Bosworth. After his military service and Graduating From University of Utah with a Masters Degree, he married Josephine Thomas on June 13, 1957 in Salt Lake City, UT. They moved to California to begin his career as a Psychiatric Social Worker and start a family. Later they moved the family to Preston, ID where Ray worked for the State of Idaho.

Ray is survived by a son, Thomas North of Cheyenne, WY, a daughter Karen North of Logan, UT and a daughter Christie Stuart (Deloy) of Pocatello, ID, ten grand¬children, and ten great-grand children. He is preceded in death by Josephine Thomas and Esther McQuinney, his parents and siblings.

The family would like to thank the kind and dedicated employees of Elegant Assisted Living for their compassionate care and the helpful and knowledgeable staff of Encompass Hospice who delivered excellent care to Ray and his family.

A viewing will take place at Wilks Funeral Home on 211 W. Chubbuck Rd. on Thursday, January 15 from 6 until 7:30 pm. followed by military rites being presented by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will be in the Grover Cemetery, Grover, WY.

Ray was a lover of all animals and they loved him too. In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations to the Pocatello Animal Shelter. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.wilksfuneralhome.com.
