Lewis Lynn Mansfield, 64 passed away June 23, 2014 at his home in Chubbuck, Idaho surrounded by family after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Lynn was born August 9, 1949 to Lawana "Lee" Thompson and Thomas Howard Mansfield. Lynn graduated from Blackfoot High School and joined the Army National Guard. He spent 8 years in the Guard and served during the Teton Dam crisis. Lynn married Dee Ann King in February 1971 and to that union he gained a step-daughter Valerie, his oldest son Jeffrey and his daughter Tanya. Lynn and Dee Ann were later divorced. Lynn began working at Lions Candy in December 1974 and worked until May1992. In May 1992 he left Lions and started working at Powers Candy in outside sales where he was working at the time of his death. Lynn met Cherie Hall and they were married in October 1996. To this union came three more children; two step daughters Daniele and Hilarie and then a son, Scott.
Lynn loved camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with family. He loved going to Mackay every other weekend with his partners-in-crime, Denny and Tom. He will always be remembered for his friendliness and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Lynn is survived by his wife Cherie Hall Mansfield, son Jeff (Amy) Mansfield, daughter Tanya Kriner, step daughters Valerie ( Gary) King, Daniele (Troy) Ruhter, Hilarie Gudenau, son Scott Mansfield, mother and stepfather, Lawana " Lee" and William Hill, brothers Thomas Mansfield and William ( Ann) Hill, sister Sharlene ( George ) Eldridge, brother-in-law Ken Klingenburg, 12 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and three god-sons. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Howard Mansfield and his sister, Celia Klingenburg. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Encompass Hospice for the wonderful care given to our family.
A Gathering for family and friends will be Friday June 27th from 7-9 PM at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road. And a Memorial Gathering of friends and family will be next month at 4:00 PM, Saturday, July 26th at his Son's home 558 Dell Road. Military Rites will be provided by Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard and the Idaho National Honor Guard at 5:00 PM. His funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Wilks Funeral Home.
