Lyn Stauffer

May 7, 1957 — March 7, 2024

Carolyn “Lyn” Leola McFarlin Stauffer, 66 of Howe Idaho, passed away, March 7, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.


Lyn was born May 7, 1957, in Rigby, Idaho, along with her twin sister Carol, to Lloyd and Bertha McFarlin. After her parents' divorce at the age of 7 months old, Lloyd retained custody of the twins. They lived in and attended schools in Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Soda Springs and Arco, graduating from Butte County High School in 1976. Lyn attended Boise State university and obtained a technical degree in Secretary Skills in 1977.


She married Mark Stauffer on January 28th, 1978. They moved to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho and lived for 2 years. They had their first child, Janelle, and shortly after moved to Howe, Idaho where they had their second child, Cody, and established a home and farm. Lyn resided there until her death.


Lyn was a stay-at-home mom, volunteering her time at the Howe Elementary Parent Teacher Organization, Little Lost River Bible Church’s Junior Worshipers, Christian Women’s Club, District Chair of the Republican party, and creating and running Girl Scouts for many years. She was an active member of the Little Lost River Bible Church serving in many capacities including Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, Sweetheart Banquet Organizer, and more. She also worked for David’s Cafe, Little Lost River Store, and as a para pro at Howe Elementary School.


Lyn was a creative person, enjoying painting, cross stitching, and other crafting throughout her life. She enjoyed creating meaningful trips for her grandchildren and traveling all over Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Arizona with her adventurous husband. She loved gathering yearly with her longtime friends, called “Company of Friends”, where she always came back with hilarious stories.


Lyn is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Mark Stauffer. Her daughter, Janelle Stauffer (Ethan Ackerman) and her son, Cody (Lisa) Stauffer. Her four grandchildren: Ella Boothby, Hadley Boothby, Jessalyn Stauffer, & Adele Stauffer. Four Nieces & 1 Nephew.


She is preceded in death by her twin sister, Carol Ivie, her father Lloyd McFarlin, & her dear friends Patricia Woody and Rick Stauffer.


Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, May 25th, at the Little Lost River Bible Church,1520 ID-33, Howe, ID . A reception will follow at Howe Community Center.
