Lyman Kay Penrod passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 4, 2018 in Pocatello, Idaho at the age of 80. Kay was born on February 13, 1938, in Declo, Idaho to Lyman Wright and Melba (Palmer) Penrod. His family later settled in Logan, Utah. Kay graduated from Logan High School where he participated in band, drama and choir. He also studied at Utah State University. He loved music, especially the Hymns. As a young man Kay served an LDS mission to Norway and he never lost the love he had for that time in his life. On December 15, 1961, he married the love of his life Dawn Pitcher. They were married in the Logan Utah Temple. They resided in Murray, Utah where they welcomed 5 children into their home and hearts. They later moved to Pocatello to raise their family. Kay worked in Real Estate and sales most of his working life and enjoyed meeting and serving all that he met. He was also able to serve an LDS mission locally with his loving wife. Kay was an active and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings including serving in a stake presidency, executive secretary, and a loving bishop. He loved serving others and leaves behind a great legacy and example of faith to his family and friends. Kay is survived by his wife Dawn (Pitcher) Penrod; his children, Kathryn (Ken) Glodo, of Idaho Falls, Janice (Alan) Smith, Carol (Tim) Lish, David (Stephanie) Penrod of Pocatello, and Michael (Christy) Penrod of Beach City, Texas. He leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren as well as his sisters, Sharon (Jerry) Peterson and LaDean (Darrell) Nish. Kay was preceded in death by his parents Lyman Wright Penrod and Melba Palmer Penrod; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Peterson and Darrell Nish. A viewing will be on Monday, September 10, 2018 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11 am at the LDS Church, 4600 Victory Ave. Chubbuck, ID 83202, with a viewing for one hour prior. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
