Ludeen Bevan

Mary LuDeen Hiner Bevan passed away peacefully at her home in Pocatello, Idaho on July 5th, 2012 of natural causes.

She was born the 15th of May ,1937 in Rexburg, Idaho to Evert Albert Hiner and Jessie Yancey Hiner. She spent the summers of her younger years in the mountains and deserts of Idaho. Her father was a sheepherder and her mother a devoted wife. Therefore, LuDeen was raised with her brother, Ted, in the great outdoors, where they learned to ride horses and entertain themselves with what Mother Nature provided and a creative mother could invent.

Winters were spent in Rexburg going to school and gathering friends. She was a devoted, loyal friend and has maintained some of those earlier friendships to this day. Her youngest brother, Bert ,was born just as LuDeen was entering her teen years; he was her baby and she enjoyed and loved him fiercely. As much as she loved her friends, her first loyalty was to both of her brothers and nobody had better badmouthed them or they had a fight on their hands. It didn't even matter if it was true or not; her brothers didn't always appreciate the protection.

LuDeen joined the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when she was 12 years old and has never wavered from it. She loved the gospel and lived it in every way. She graduated from Madison High School and a short time later married Lowell J Bevan on the 15th of June 1955, in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. He was a handsome young man from over the hill in Driggs. He had come to work for her dad with the sheep. They have been best friends and true companions ever since.

They moved to Pocatello, Idaho where Lowell worked for Simplot and LuDeen settled in to take care of their four daughters who would soon follow. Jessie Marie, being the first, was born while they lived in Pocatello. They moved back to Lowell's family ranch in Horse Shoe Canyon in Driggs, Idaho for a short time where their second daughter, Laurie Ann,was born. A while later they moved back to Pocatello where Lowell was able to return to his a job at Simplots. Their third daughter,Treina, was born during this time and then the forth daughter, Helen. The family was complete.

During the summers Lowell trained and shod horses for people. LuDeen was his right hand. You would never see one without the other. She handed tools and kept an eye on the kids as he put shoes on thousands of horses over the years.

Eventually, they moved their family of girls from Pocatello to Tyhee, just north of Pocatello. They farmed a small acreage on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation. Lowell still worked at Simplot and trained and shod horses. So, with the farming to do now as well, LuDeen was still his best help. She helped with the irrigation, haying, and doing a lot of the tractor work while Lowell was at work. She was a hard worker who never complained and could fix almost anything. As in her younger years, her family and her Father in Heaven was always her first priority. Through her example she made sure her children learned of the Gospel, love, service, loyalty, and hard work.

When her children were all in school, LuDeen went back to school herself to become the nurse she always wanted to be. She studied at St. Anthony Hospital, in Pocatello, where she met many friends and excelled at becoming a practical nurse.

She enjoyed serving and caring for people all her life. She served in the church in many callings. One her favorite was teaching the young boys in scouting. With all her experience in the outdoors she was a big hit with them. She loved quilting, gardening, camping,and hunting, but mostly Lowell and their family. Every new grandchild and great-grandchild was the greatest ever born.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Evert and Jessie Hiner. Her living family includes her brothers: Ted (Peggy) Hiner of Rexburg and Bert (Jeanette) Hiner of Boise; Daughters: Jessie (Rick) Fuhriman of Downey, Laurie (Ross) Hatch of Filer, Treina (Dean) Stuart of Chubbuck, and Helen (Rodney) Arbon of Richland, Washington; Fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She will be greatly mourned and missed as a wonderful mother, wife, sister, grandmother, neighbor, and friend.
