Luana Smith

IDAHO FALLS-Luana (Lu) Blanche Smith, 84, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011 at home. She was born in Idaho Falls on February 9 th , 1927 to Dean and Blanche Ritchie. Lu has two sisters and three brothers. She attended schools in Idaho Falls. During the summers her family stayed on their farm out in Iona. On April 23 rd , 1944 Lu married Robert J (Bob) Smith of Idaho Falls. They moved to San Diego, Ca while Bob served in the Navy. After his service they returned to Idaho Falls, and then later moved out to Iona. She enjoyed being a housewife and raising her five children on the farm. She enjoyed cooking and having family over. Her greatest joy was watching her children compete in school sports and activities. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Robert J. Smith. She is survived by her sisters Jackie Stegner and Emma Ashton, and brothers JD Ritchie, Tom Ritchie, and Chuck Heileson. Her five children, Robert Dick (Sherrey)Smith, John L. (Diana) Smith, Douglas D. (Pam) Smith, Janet (Dave) Erickson and Bart Smith. Her seventeen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at Dave and Janet Erickson's Home on Sunday December 4 th at 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
