Lowell Bryan Wells

June 11, 1934 — May 31, 2017

Lowell Wells, born June 11, 1934 in Oakland, California, passed away May 31, 2017 in Pocatello, Idaho.

Lowell was born to parents, Georgiana and Austin Kersten and in 1939 he was adopted by his stepfather, Bryan Wells. During the war years he grew up in the Klamath River with his grandmother, Theodosia Caldwell, helping her operate a gold mine while he attended school. Later his mother married Marion Hollenbeak and they had his brother, Arch. They lived in Berkeley where Lowell graduated high school and met some of his life-long friends in the Methodist youth fellowship Theta Pi. He attended two years of college, and then he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp.

Lowell had four children: Lynne, Kathleen, Laura, and Carol, with his first wife, Molly. Lowell had many successful businesses over the years, but finally settled working at the Saddleback Inn, where he met Maria Compala who became his 3rd wife. She had two grown sons, Billy and James Bransky, who Lowell has always treated them as though he was their father. Lowell also has a brother Fred Rusty Wells and Sister Susan Wells Casselboom.

Maria and Lowell had over 30 years together and were the love of each other's lives. Lowell also loved to cruise; they took many cruises together to the Mexican Riviera, Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal and Hawaii. Maria had some neat plans for his upcoming birthday, but she supposes God had other plans. He was very much loved and is already missed.

A memorial gathering will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, with Military Rites provided by the Pocatello Veterans Honor Guard.
