Louis "Lou" K. Mccormack

May 25, 1945 — September 23, 2020

On September 23, 2020, Louis [Lou] Karlson McCormack, 75, passed away at home surrounded by his family. He was born May 25, 1945 in Pocatello, Idaho to Barney and Vilma McCormack; the middle child of three boys born from that union. His parents later divorced. Vilma remarried and added a brother and sister to the family. When Vilma moved to California, Lou stayed in Pocatello and lived with his aunt and uncle during his high school years. He moved to California to live with his dad during the last few months of his senior year of high school. Soon after high school graduation, Lou started to work for Pacific Gas & Electric. He left that job to join the US Navy, where he was stationed aboard the USS Taconic. Upon his release from the Navy, he married Diane Liberi and her small son, Brent. They were married 14 years and added a daughter, Brandy, to their family. During that time Lou went back to school to obtain an Associate of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He continued to work for California Gas & Electric as a Petroleum Technician for 35 years. After retirement he continued to consult for PG&E for another 5 years. He loved to hunt and fish. He came back to Pocatello whenever he could to hunt and/or fish with his brother, his Uncle Larry and Aunt Fern and his cousin Larry. He also loved to golf and played quite a bit in California over the years. He never did remarry but spent close to 19 years with the love of his life, Pat Demien. They remained friends till the end. Although Lou lived most of his life in Southern California, the last two years were spent back in Pocatello. Unfortunately, most of that last two years were spent dealing with numerous serious health issues. Special thanks are extended to his brother Tom and family for the constant, kind and special care they gave him during that time. Lou was a kind man with a great sense of humor. He was easy going and fun, with a lot of great stories to tell. He had a lot of close, wonderful friends. He loved his children and grandchildren and would talk about them to anyone who would listen. Lou is survived by his children: son Brent (Lisa), daughter Brandy (Jeremiah) Heller; and grandchildren, Clifford, Ireland, Jordyn, Madyson, and Devynn; his brothers: Thomas McCormack, Lee McCormack, Ricky [Denise] Hippach; and his sister, Terry [Erik] Williams; his special friend, Pat Demien and her grandchildren (whom he also considered his grandchildren): Blake and Riley Howser; his aunt, Fern McCormack; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Lou was deeply loved by all of his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 2 pm at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 S. 5th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
