Lorraine Iris Hill

Lorraine Iris Hill, 90, a lifelong Pocatello resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2018 in Pocatello Idaho surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.

Lorraine was born on April 11, 1928 in Denver, CO, the 2nd child of Lawrence H. and Gladys I. Tate. Her family lived in Sedgwick, CO until moving to Denver, CO where she went to school through 6th grade. Her family then moved to Pocatello where she attended Franklin Jr. High and then went on to graduate from Pocatello High School. She went to the School of Cosmetology and worked in beauty shops in Blackfoot and Pocatello. Lorraine met Lowell Lee Hill on a blind date to go roller skating while he was home on leave from the Military in December. They were married on August 19, 1946, when Lowell returned from the war. They lived in Pocatello and began raising a family.

Lorraine enjoyed rock hunting, camping, gardening, traveling, pinochle and loved collecting dolls. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lorraine is survived by six of her children. Gary (Gayle) Hill, Spokane, WA, Rick (Sherry) Hill, Idaho Falls, Kathy (Kenny) Gates, Pocatello, Kollene (Bruce) Cranor, Chubbuck, Phillip (Andrea) Hill, UT., Lorena (Bob) Bennett, Olympia, WA.

Lorraine has 26 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Lee Hill, daughters Janie Sue Hill, Gina Marie Jilot, a son George L. Hill, daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Hill, and her two brothers Larry Tate and Lester Tate. Also her two granddaughters, Kimiko Marie Parker Jilot and Cami Jo Cranor.

Special thanks to the awesome and caring staff at Idaho State Veteran's Home in Pocatello and Heritage Hospice, for the love and care they gave our Sweet and Special Mother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 25, 2018 at Wilks Funeral Home. A viewing will be held from 7-9 PM Thursday, May 24th and a viewing will begin at 10:00 AM prior to the services on Friday, both also at the funeral home. Her interment will follow the services at Mountain View Cemetery.
