Lorraine E. Schmett

January 23, 1951 — July 5, 2017

Lorraine Schmett, a longtime resident of Blackfoot, passed away Wednesday the 5th of July at Ashley Manor Memory Care.

Born in 1951 in Pocatello, her passion was assisting others. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Idaho State University in 1989.

Lorraine taught nursing at Idaho State University in the mid-2000s and worked at various hospitals in Pocatello, Blackfoot, and Idaho Falls. She retired from State Hospital South in 2013.

Lorraine loved arts and crafts, fishing, and anything outdoors, gardening was a passion. She could always be counted on to lend a helping hand no matter the circumstances.

She is preceded in death by Morten Payne (father) and Walter Payne (brother).

She is survived by Blanch Layland (mother), Dora Saxton (sister), Della King (sister), Charles Payne (brother), Steven Payne (brother), and her three sons Anthony Payne, Michael, Payne, and Bobby Schmett.

Please note the LOCATION change for the service. Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 South 5th Avenue, with a gathering one hour prior to the graveside service at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 West Chubbuck Road. There will also be a gathering from 6-8pm on Tuesday July 11, 2017 at Wilks Funeral Home. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
