Anna Lorraine Haynes Barret “Lorraine”, of Pocatello, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, transitioned peacefully with her family by her side at 11:55 am on January 11th, 2022, at the age of 94.
Born in Rexburg, Idaho, Lorraine was born to Oliver Powers Haynes and Effie Mae Miller, and was the eldest of 5 children. She grew up on a farm in Sugar City, Idaho and often spoke of being a proud “tomboy”, enjoying the farming chores.
Lorraine loved and excelled in school. She attended Sugar Salem High School where she was active in Pep Club, served as the Student Body Treasurer, and graduated as the Salutatorian of her class in 1945.
Lorraine married Nathan Reece Barrett on September 12, 1946. Together, in the city of Pocatello, they raised two daughters, Margaret Ann Barrett and LaReece Barrett Stinger.
Lorraine was an active and involved member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, often volunteered as an election worker for the City of Pocatello, and loved helping at the yearly County Fair.
Lorraine had an incredible talent for sewing and quilting. She taught weekly sewing classes in Pocatello for many years, and estimated making over 30 quilts in her lifetime. She also enjoyed bowling, and was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Pocatello Bowling Association. Most of all, she treasured camping and fishing with her family.
Her family will forever remember her for her big smile, love of camping, her large home cooked breakfasts, driving like a race car driver, and her dedication to walk 5 miles every morning at 4:45 am.
Lorraine is survived by her sister Pollyanna, her daughter LaReece, her four grandchildren, William, Logan, Shanna, Dallas, and her 18 living great grandchildren.
