Loretta Johnson, 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Arbon, on Thursday, August 3, 2017. She was born in Council Grove, Kansas on June 27, 1925 to Harry and Bertha Walker. Loretta worked for nearby farmers milking cows and feeding calves before and after school. She earned 50 cents a week that she split with her older sister who worked at home. She married Frank L. Johnson on January 6, 1944. Frank was in the Army when they met. She was the Postmaster in Arbon for 38 years. She traveled all over the U.S. and Puerto Rico in the U.S. Postal National League. Loretta was a 4-H leader, editor of the state Post Office League newspaper, and she was president of the Postmaster League and was a delegate who helped set and greet the other delegates for the National League. Loretta enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, painting and gardening. She loved to read. After she went blind, she was able to get talking books from the state library. She also had a ceramic shop for a while. Loretta is survived by her son, Blake Johnson, Arbon, ID, daughter, Dixie, daughter, Patricia (Tom) Davis, Fairfield, ID, son, Frank W. Johnson, Colorado; eleven grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Johnson; 2 sisters; and 1 brother. A celebration of Lorettas life will be held and announced at a later date.
