Lola Mae Stokes

January 28, 1932 — January 20, 2021

Lola Mae Haskell Stokes, left this mortal life on January 20, 2021 in Orem Utah. Lola is the daughter of Raymond Levi Haskell and Sarah Horn Haskell. She was born January 28, 1932 in American Falls, Idaho, and is the 8th of nine children. Lola grew up in the Rockland Valley Idaho on a beautiful family farm. Lola graduated from Rockland High School in 1950 and attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho.

Lola married her sweetheart, Theron Oleen Stokes on February 28, 1951 in the Idaho Falls Temple. Together they worked on the Stokes family farm in Rockland for a number of years. Throughout their life they lived in Burley, Idaho, Rexburg, Idaho, and Pocatello, Idaho, as Theron worked for Idaho Farm Bureau Insurance. Later Theron and Lola moved to Sandy, Utah where Theron worked for Utah Farm Bureau Insurance.

After Retirement they built a cabin in Island Park and lived there for several summers traveling to Mesa, Arizona and St. George during the winter season where they enjoyed square dancing and sang in their church choirs.

Many wonderful memories were made sharing their cabin with family and dear friends. Theron and Lola loved driving through the roads in Sawtell Mountains near their cabin in their old jeep looking for deer, elk and moose. Their children and grandchildren loved to share this adventure with them. They also especially enjoyed snowmobiling through Yellowstone Park not far from their cabin with friends.

Lola enjoyed serving in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She especially loved serving in the Young Women program and in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Lola had many hobbies, including singing, cooking for her family, hosting family reunions, quilting, crocheting, and gardening.

Lola and Theron have been blessed with five children, Steven (Teri) Stokes, Patricia (Dallas) Powell, Pamela (Cory) Dunn, Michael (Jackie) Stokes, and Jeffery (Sandra) Stokes. In addition to 5 children, they have 24 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren.
