Lois Maxine Larsen

April 20, 1939 — March 21, 2025

Inkom

Lois Maxine (Hutchison) Larsen, 85, of Inkom, ID passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, in Pocatello, ID.

Lois was born in Pingree, Idaho, April 20th, 1939, to Lloyd and Martha Hutchison of Pingree, ID. Lois was a 1957 graduate of Snake River High School, where she met her future husband Paul Jorgensen and brought into the world two children, Janis (Jorgensen/Hall) Staley of Inkom, ID and Neil Jorgensen of Bozeman, MT. Once moving to Pocatello, she remarried and settled in Inkom with Dean Larsen who had three adult children, Ann (Larsen) Yount of Priest River, Rick Larsen of Inkom and Jeff Larsen.

Early in life she had the aspiration of becoming a secretary. Lois started her career after graduation by working at the phone company in Blackfoot and then began her career as a secretary / bookkeeper with Simplot Soil Builders in Rockford, ID. She then got a promotion to district credit manager in Idaho Falls.

Travel became tricky in the winter from Inkom to Idaho Falls so she took a job as office manager for Orthopedic Surgeons in Pocatello. She was able to return to her Simplot career where she finished at the Pocatello office as customer service manager then moved to rail shipping coordinator. After retirement from Simplot, she worked part time at the Inkom Cement Plant Credit Union and then for the City of Inkom both for several years. She really loved that job with all of the history of the city. It was the icing on the cake of a satisfying career. She felt that her variety of jobs from working for a fertilizer company, medical office, banking and city government taught her so much and in turn she met so many people that many have become lifelong friends.

Lois truly loved to be the hostess of many gatherings for friends and family. She would prepare delicious meals and was always up for having friends and family over. She and Dean hosted many large groups. The super bowl was her favorite as well as all of the holiday dinners at their home. They would also host at their cabin in Island Park where they enjoyed snowmobiling, four wheeling, boating and of course there had to be a plentiful supply of Bud Light and singing along to songs as they played on the juke box.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lloyd Jr.; and her husbands, Paul Jorgensen and Dean Larsen. She is survived by her five children, Ann (Chris) Yount; Janis (David) Staley; Rick Larsen; Neil (Julie) Jorgensen; and Jeff Larsen; 21 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. So many kids called her “Grandma Lois” whether they were related or not. She loved it, and she loved them all!!!

A graveside memorial service will take place at the Norton Cemetery in McCammon, ID at 11 am on Saturday, April 19, 2025. The family requests in-Lieu of flowers, consider a Memorial Donation to either of the programs she enjoyed so much.
