Lois Eldene Harris

September 20, 1922 — October 13, 2015

Lois Eldene Harris passed away peacefully October 13, 2015 in Helena, Montana where she had been living for the past two years.

Lois was born September 20, 1922 to Earl and Eleanor (Green) Rowe in McCammon, Idaho. She grew up in McCammon where she met Eugene Harris and they were married on March 23, 1940, just before she graduated from High School.

Lois and Eugene had three daughters: Arleene (Guenther) of Idaho Falls, Dianne (Christiansen) of Downey and Denise (Byington) of Helena. She and her family lived most of their lives in McCammon except for a few months when work took Eugene to Chesterfield, Idaho and Libby, Montana. She went to work at Farmers insurance in Pocatello, Idaho in 1960 and retired from there in 1988. She made some lifelong friends there and loved all the people she worked with.

Lois loved her life in McCammon and always wanted to be there in her home. She was up early every morning and was the first one to have her sidewalks shoveled from the snow. She was surrounded with friends and neighbors that she loved and loved to visit with. It wasn't until her health forced her to leave her beloved home that she went to live with her daughter and grand-daughter in Idaho Falls and then to Helena Mt. to live with her youngest daughter.

Lois was a member of the LDS church in McCammon and loved her visiting teaching partners and ward members. She was a hard worker and loved to work in her yard and do crafts whenever she could. She especially loved Christmas projects. She also loved to crochet and embroider that earned many blue ribbons at the county and state fairs for her beautiful handiwork of embroidered pillow cases and crocheted afghans. She shared her gifts with everyone and all benefited from her talents. She loved her family and especially loved visits from all her grandkids. She loved to cook for family and her specialty was wheat cakes and bacon for breakfast, and a beef roast and potatoes for dinner with ice cream for dessert. She loved to host a picnic for all family members for the McCammon Rodeo and Parade. What wonderful summers and holidays we had at Grandmas. She will be missed by all who knew her especially those who got to call her Mom, and Grandma.

Lois is survived by her 3 daughters, Arleene, Dianne and Denise, 10 grandchildren Rhonda Guenther, Tom Guenther, Dirk Guenther, Scott Christiansen, Matt Christiansen, Clint Byington, Codi Carpenter, Brook Johns and Weston Byington; 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene, the one and only love of her life; a son-in-law, Ronald Guenther; a grandson Justin Christiansen, 2 great grandchildren, Jeric and Dallas Christiansen and a brother, Zane Rowe.

Funeral services for Lois will be at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 19, 2015 at the McCammon LDS Church, 403 W. 16th Street, McCammon, Idaho. A viewing will be held 6-8:00 P.M., Sunday evening and one hour prior to the services, both at the church. The interment will follow the services at Norton Cemetery.
