Lois Bartschi

April 5, 1933 — August 21, 2016

Surrounded by her dear husband and family at home, Lois Bartschi, 83 , of Pocatello, Idaho passed away the evening of August 21, 2016. Lois was born April 5, 1933 in Liberty, Idaho to Ezra and Cerilda Roberts. Her early years were spent in Pairs, Idaho and Logan, Utah. She later moved to Georgetown, Idaho where she attended High School and met her best friend and soon to be husband. She has lived in Pocatello, Idaho for 66 years.

Lois married Dennis Bartschi in the Idaho Falls Temple for time and all eternity on May 26, 1950. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many capacities. She spent many years in the Young Women's program, which she dearly loved. She also served as a den mother and held numerous positions in the Relief Society. She and Dennis served two missions together. Her first mission was served in the Springfield, Illinois area where she grew to love the people she served. Her second mission was spent in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Family History Center where she was able to help many people search for, and find their loved ones. Lois had the privilege of serving as a Temple Worker in the Idaho Falls Temple for 9 years.

Lois worked at Garret Freight Lines, where she was the assistant office manager for many years, taking an early retirement soon after the company moved to Utah. She loved to read and belonged to the La Neuvelle Et Vielle (The New & the Old) literary group where she enjoyed bringing books to life. She had a special way of reading books out loud that would totally capture and mesmerize her audience. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She had the opportunity of going on many family vacations, and she and Dennis would often just take a drive to see the fall leaves or the spring flowers. She loved her children and grandchildren and attended as many blessings, baptisms, dance recitals, piano recitals, sporting events, and weddings as possible.

She loved making home-made birthday cards and sending them to every member of the family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren always looked forward to the birthday card from Grandma Bartschi.

Lois is survived by her husband, Dennis Bartschi, and 3 children: son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Mary Bartschi, San Tan Valley, Arizona; her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Thomas Stephens, Pocatello, Idaho; her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Wendy Bartschi, Sandy, Utah; two sisters, Ann Sullivan, and Norie Warden; nineteen grandchildren, and thirty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Jean Bartschi Bair; her parents, Ezra and Cerilda Roberts; and a sister, Gwenda Bennett.

Her family would like to express their deepest appreciation to all her neighbors and friends who loved and helped take care of her needs these last few years as her health no longer allowed her to do the things she loved. A special measure of gratitude is extended to Michelle Bullock at Heritage Home Health, who treated her with tender, loving care and continually advocated for the very best health care possible.
