Linda Jane Nelson

January 10, 1950 — December 12, 2023

Linda Jane Nelson, 73, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

Linda was born in Pocatello on January 10, 1950, to Donald and Patsy Talbot. She graduated from Pocatello High School in 1968. Soon thereafter, she moved to New England, where she lived for a decade. Upon her return to Idaho, she worked as the Section 8 Manager at the Pocatello Housing Authority until her retirement. In 2000, Linda married Stephen Nelson, to whom she was happily married until Stephen’s passing in 2016. They enjoyed nature and cherished their time away together under the stars in their camper.

Linda was a hard worker, who also was not afraid to enjoy herself. She could be rebellious at times and was known by her closest friends and family as a chief instigator, whose crazy antics skillfully pushed, but rarely crossed boundaries. She enjoyed sharing stories of her adventures, always managing to recreate the tales in an endearing and hysterical way. She was a problem solver, who was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Whether she was helping her children or providing aid to friends, she was always there for those she loved and she will be remembered for her big heart. Linda was a proud member of the Shoshone-Bannock tribe, and was especially proud of the contributions made to the tribe by her grandfather, Clarence Rainey, for whom Rainey Park is named.

She was the loving mother of Todd Huot of Pocatello, Cristina Murphy of Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and Craig Huot of Pocatello. She is survived by her siblings, Robert Talbot and Lisa Talbot Weight. She was also the proud grandmother of Abigail Murphy, Hannah Murphy, and Riley Murphy with whom she was grateful to visit for a month shortly before her passing.

The family will be hosting a celebration of her life in the spring. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family under the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
