Lillian Chilton Tranmer, 87, passed away Friday, October 23, 2009, at home. Lillian was born July 10, 1922, at home at 109 Wilson Ave., Pocatello, Idaho, to Margaret Louella Carter Chilton and Isaac William Chilton. She had three siblings, Afton, Faun, and Ethel. She attended school at Pocatello High School, and was an excellent student. She graduated from Pocatello High School at 16 years of age in 1939, and then worked as a dispatcher for the Union Pacific Railroad. She attended Idaho State College, where she met and subsequently married Arthur Dee Tranmer. During World War II, Art was in the Air force, and so they lived in Santa Ana, Calif., Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Tucson, Arizona. After the war, they moved to Seattle, Washington, where Lillian worked as a waitress while Art attended Dental School. They moved back to Pocatello with their first two daughters, Trudy and Pam, in 1953. They then had two more children arrive in the family, Debbie and Dean. Lillian was able then to focus on being a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Alameda 1st ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was in Toastmistresses, PTA, served as a Girl Scout Leader, sang with Sweet Adeline's, and was an avid supporter of her children's activities. Her family was the most important thing to her! She was energetic and enthusiastic, and all remember her making holidays extra special, especially Christmas. Lillian loved to sing, and she and Art were excellent ballroom dancers. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and creating oil paintings. She will be greatly missed by her surviving family members which include, her children, Pam Maiocco, LaVerne, California, Debbie Tranmer, Pocatello, A.
