Lester Cordell Wetchie, 53, passed away October 10, 2008, at Portneuf Valley Long Term Care. He was born on February 15, 1955 in Lander, Wyoming, the son of Ray and Belle Ballard Wetchie, the 8th of 9 children. He attended school in Wyoming, American Falls, and graduated form Chiloco Indian School in Oklahoma. He married Delilah Ottogary in July of 1976. They were later divorced in 1986. He worked various jobs, primarily fighting fires for the B.L.M. His latest job was asbestos removal. He had many talents including drawing Native American art and bead work. He was a Sun Dancer. He liked to play football, basketball, and was also a boxer. He had a great sense of humor and many friends. Lester had a special friend and partner, Susie Yupe, who was by his side when he passed away. He is survived by his special friend Susie Yupe of Bannock Creek, a daughter Delana Wetchie of Boise, Idaho, a grandson Cordell James Wahtomy of Fort Hall, Idaho, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Dwayne Mosho, Tommy Mosho, Dexter Mosho, Raymond Wetchie, Urban Wetchie, Roderick Wetchie, and David Wetchie; sister Melinda Mosho; children Leslie Amboh, Nancy Wahtomy, Jodelle Wetchie; his mother and father Ray and Belle Wetchie. Native American Services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at Bannock Creek Cemetery at 2 p.m. Family visitation will be Sunday, October 12, 2008, from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. Burial will be at Bannock Creek Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Colonial Funeral Home.
