Lester Frank Theel, an assembler at Partner Steel, died unexpectedly in his sleep on November 21, 2017, at the age of 70.
Les is survived by his siblings, Carol Elston and Jerry Theel, his children, David and Jon Theel, and Joy Theel Cummins; his grandchildren, Jasper and Jackson Theel, Aiden and Lucy Theel, and Thomas Cummins. He is predeceased by his brother, Ronald Theel, and his parents, Phyllis Brining and Otto Theel.
Les was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on December 20, 1946 to Otto Theel and Phyllis Brining. He married Shirlee Joy Mings on November 28, 1966 in Bloomington, Illinois. Following the birth of their first son, David, the couple moved to California, where they lived primarily in Santa Ana, and welcomed Jon and Joy. Following the passing of his wife on August 26, 2000, Les moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where he could be near his only grandchildren at the time. He lived in Pocatello until his passing.
Les was a devoted father and grandfather, enjoyed playing guitar, occasionally joining the Portneuf Valley Brewing open mic, attended several churches regularly, enjoyed learning and speaking about God. He spoke with great fondness about his Christian Motorcycle Association friends, his Young at Heart group from Calvary Alliance, and his friends from Partner Steel.
Memorial service on December 2 at 11:00 a.m., Calvary Alliance Church, 800 Marinus Ln, Pocatello. Flowers, donations and condolences may be offered through Wilks Funeral Home, 211 West Chubbuck Road. Condolences and memories my be shared with the family by visiting the "Tribute Wall" tab above.
