Lester Earl Phillips, 71, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at a local medical center. He was born in Pocatello in 1945 to John & Dorothy Phillips. Lester grew up in Blackfoot and attended schools in Blackfoot and Pocatello. Lester entered the U.S. Marines at the age of 17. He finished that career in the Army National Guard serving for a total of 24 years. He married Fern Ellett Phillips and they were married for 50 years. Together they had two children and Lester had a son from a previous relationship. After the military, they lived in California where he worked in the sprinkler industry then moving to Idaho in 1985 where he worked at Idaho Iron and SME Steel. Lester had a strong belief in God. He enjoyed watching old westerns and was a master of the remote. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, and riding motorcycles throughout the area. His biggest joy in his life is his three grandchildren. Lester is survived by his wife, Fern Philips, Pocatello, ID; children, John (Rayna) Phillips, Pocatello, ID, Kathy (Corey) Dahlberg, Pocatello, ID, Kevin Weir, Boise, ID; grandson, Jeremy Phillips, Pocatello, ID; and granddaughter, Jessica Phillips, Pocatello, ID. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Phillips; brother, James Fuger; and granddaughter, Jordan Phillips. A memorial gathering, with Military Honors, will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 3 pm at Tough Guy Lanes, 403 E. Lewis St. Pocatello, ID 83201.
