Leslie Streeper Romriell , age 62, passed away at her home on the morning of Sunday, March 28, 2010 with her family by her side. Leslie passed away due to complications of a Glio Blastoma Multiforma Primary Brain Tumor. Leslie was born April 15, 1947 to Noall and Anna (Nielsen) Streeper in Pocatello, Idaho. She was raised and educated in Pocatello, graduating with honors from Highland H.S. in 1965 and from I.S.U. in 1968 from the dental hygiene program. Leslie worked at her father's pharmacy, cleaned homes, and worked as a dental assistant through high school and college. She was a state officer in the dental hygiene associations of Kentucky and Idaho, and President of the local Dental Hygiene Organization. She married her high school sweetheart, Gregory Romriell in 1968 in the Idaho Falls Temple, and moved to Louisville, Kentucky where she supported him through dental school. Leslie was very active as a leader for the Boy Scout s for more than 19 years, leading more than 100 boys, half of which became Eagle Scouts. She was a merit badge councilor at the time of her passing. She was a co-founder of the American Mothers, Pocatello Chapter, serving there as president, financier and instructor for several years, helping young mothers learn to be better mothers and spouses. She served the people of Idaho as member of the Board of Directors of the Lava Foundation for over 12 years. Governor Otter presented her with a special commendation in February of 2010, for "distinguished public service to the people of the Great State of Idaho". The letter states, "Your many achievements are evidence of a lifetime spent changing the world around you for the better. You have stood out among your fellow citizens in your service to the state. You are a shining example of dedication to one's community, giving your talents over the years." She was a giver of herself to any one that had a need, made 100's of baby blankets, made and delivered many gallons of homemade soup (her specialty) for friends and neighbors. Was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International, the adopted "mother" of the ISU men's basketball team, chaperone for multiple choir and band tours, organized many fund raising projects for choir, drama and music, organized a benefit dinner for Tsunami relief (raising 15,000 two days after the disaster). Leslie was the "resident manager of the Romriell no-fee bed and breakfast/her home", providing lodging in her home to approximately 1500 people over the years including unwed mothers, displaced students, foreign exchange students. members of traveling sports teams, international choirs, Rotary Group Study Exchange Teams, Rotary exchange students, hitchhikers, as a half way house for rehabilitation, et al. She homeschooled all of her children with one graduating from high school, three from college, one from dental school and one currently in a post graduate program. All of her sons and sons-in-law are Eagle Scouts, and all of her children own their own businesses. She was a political activist, always enjoying a good discussion. Being active in local republican politics for 30 years serving in all capacities from being a candidate for state office, to being Bannock County Republican Party Chairman. She was the first person selected for the Republican Party's Hall of Fame. The love of her life was her grandchildren. Being with them in any activity was her favorite place to be, and her favorite thing to do. Her grandchildren, all 21 of them, were her pride and joy!
