Leon "Pee Wee" Reese

d. January 31, 2016

Leon Knudd "Pee Wee" Reese, 78, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at his home with family by his side. Pee Wee was born January 22, 1938 to Harold A. and Marie Kinney-ORoark Reese. Born prematurely, weighing only two pounds, he earned the nickname "Pee Wee". Pee Wee was born and raised in Pocatello, attending Pocatello High School. After school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Before he left for the Navy, he met his sweetheart, Kathleen Wacaster. They married on May 17, 1956, while he was home on his first leave from the Navy. After he was discharged, they adopted one daughter, Darla Joan Reese in 1965. Pee Wee went to work for the City of Pocatello. After the city, he went to work for Bannock Paving. He worked there for 20 years before going to work for the INEL until he retired in 1998. After retirement, he spent time doing the things that he loved. Mostly, that meant spending time with his grandkids and cars. Whether it was working on them, driving, or racing stock cars, Pee Wee loved it. He has owned several classic cars over the years, and loved showing them with his friends in the Classy Car Club. He and Kathy spent several winters in Arizona helping his brother "Bunky" with his horses. The family would like to thank Alliance Hospice for their compassionate care. Especially Peter, Whitney, Linda, and Danny. Pee Wee is survived by his wife, Kathleen Reese; sister, Joan (Fred) Ball; son-in-law, Mark Sorenson; grandsons, Brandon (Christine) Sorenson, Dallas (Whitney) Sorenson, Denton Sorenson; and granddaughter, Ciara Sorenson. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Darla; two brothers, Stan "Bunky" Reese and Tommy Reese; and two sisters, Donna Mae and Joyce Marie Reese. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500.
