Leola Rush

January 26, 1950 — December 22, 2021

Leola Marchant Rush, 71, passed away on December 22, 2021 at Portneuf Regional Medical Center after a brief illness, just a short 6 weeks after losing her beloved husband of more than 50 years.
Leola was born January 26, 1950 to Joy and Mary Marchant in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She was the youngest daughter and 10th child of their 11 children. She was the cutest baby with blonde, curly hair. The family moved to Moscow, Idaho when Leola was 10 years old. Growing up, the family had several large gardens and all the children participated in growing and harvesting food, a lot of it being sold and/or donated to the community. She attended schools in Moscow and graduated from Moscow High School in 1968.
She met her husband, Ronald Rush, through her brother Lynn. He would come to hang out with Lynn, but eventually found excuses to come and talk with Leola. Five years after they started dating, they were married on May 14, 1971. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on July 3, 1990 where they were sealed as a family.
Leola and Ron lived in Moscow until 1990, when the family moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where they lived out their lives. Leola was a homemaker who loved to quilt and crochet. She made many quilts and afghans for family and friends and every time a loved one would have a baby. She would often quietly volunteer to help out when she heard someone was in need until her health would no longer allow it.
She was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many callings; her favorite was being the ward quilting coordinator. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She spent countless hours over the years doing genealogy work. Leola was an avid reader and could always be found reading a good book. She also enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved being with and tending to her grandsons, they were the joy of her life.
Leola is survived by her sons, Steve (Dawnyel) of Idaho Falls, Andrew (Camille) of Pocatello, her grandsons, Cameron, Jayden, Jacob and Kellyn; her sister, Verna Belden of Bonners Ferry; brothers, Lynn (Sophie) Marchant of Weippe, Idaho, David (Marilyn) Marchant of Bury St. Edmunds, England; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Rush; son, Nathan James Rush; parents, Joy and Mary Marchant; sisters, Rose Gentry, Joy Bernice Bailey, Sarah Ann Platt, Phyllis Slater, Ethlyn Grace Marchant, Fern Irene Marchant; and brother, Maurice Marchant.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 6:00-7:00 pm at Colonial Chapel, 2005 S. 4th Ave., Pocatello, Idaho. A graveside service for Leola and Ron will be held at a later date.
