Len Owen Clifford

April 2, 1935 — July 19, 2022

A special bright ray of sunshine entered this world when Len Owen Clifford was born to Howard Fredrick and Nora (Kaiser) Clifford in Twin Falls, Idaho on April 2, 1935.  He spent his childhood in Hagerman, Idaho.  Shortly after graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 19 for 4 years.  After his time in the service, he lived in California and Texas before returning to Idaho.

Len welcomed and loved two sons into the world, Darrell and Steve.  Len worked for the J. R. Simplot Fertilizer Plant in Pocatello, Idaho and attended the ISU Instrumentation Program so that he could be an Instrumentation Technician.  He remained at Simplot for approximately 37 years; retiring in 1999.

He married Connie Bautista-Cardona in 1980 and welcomed six grown stepchildren into his life. Shortly after retiring, he and Connie happily helped with tending great granddaughter Emily Lowder at different intervals for several years.

Len and Connie spent many fun times camping and fishing in 3 of their favorite spots: C.J. Strike, Brownlee Reservoir and Stekpark.  The fun multiplied when joined by best friends, Leland and Myrna McLean, Kay and Marcy Campbell on many of these trips. There was always multiplied fun when stepchildren and grandkids joined them.  Elk hunting in the fall/wintertime with stepsons Ray and Mike was a past time he looked forward to for several years and spending time in the “Is It In” camper.  His pride and joy were his home, boat and diesel pickup.  He loved joining stepson Tom and Connie, in attending ISU football and men/women's basketball games for many years.

Len was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Nora, brother Clyde, sister Anna Wheeler (Ed) and son Darrell.  He is survived by his loving spouse, Connie, son Steve, stepchildren: Irene Barrett (Larry), Ray, Tom (Gaylene), Mike (Jocelyn), Jay (Jan) Cardona, Elva Moon (Morris) all in Idaho, granddaughters: Breanna Clifford (Jeremy Ryan) of Boise, Kambra Clifford (Simon) of London, England, sister-in-law Jessie (Clyde) Clifford, numerous nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren, and special great granddaughter Emily Lowder and great-great-grandson “Teddy Bear.”

His love and kindness shone brightly on all of us for many happy years and his “Afterglow” remains in all of our lives. Until we meet again dear beloved husband, dad and granddad.

A funeral service will be held in Len’s honor on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, Idaho.  A viewing will also be held at Wilks and will begin one hour prior to the services.  Interment will be in the Hagerman Cemetery.
