Leland Smith Woolley Jr., 89, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at his home in Pocatello, Idaho, with family by his side. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 9, 1926. He attended school in Pocatello, graduating from Pocatello High in 1942. He had dual citizenship in both the U.S. and Canada. Leland married Barbara Ann Boxkstruck, they divorced he then married Leesa Barbara Kay Jenkins, that also ended in divorce. As a young man, Leland worked for McClelland Lumber, Pocatello Gun Shop and was an Auto Mechanic at Cushmans General Motors in Las Vegas, NV. He was a WWII Vet serving from 1944-1946 on the USS Ozark in Iwo Jima. He was honorably discharged in May 1946. Leland loved the outdoors; hunting and fishing. He moved to Alberta, Canada in 1969 to pursue his passion for the outdoors. He hunted geese in the U.S. and Canada every second he had the chance and hunted every fall in Pocatello until spring of 2015. He also loved racing cars; as he set a land speed record in 1952 at the Bonneville Salt Flats in his 40 Buick. He enjoyed working on boats and was well rounded for his skills as a Mercury Outboard Mechanic. Leland was also a health enthusiast! He would research to no end to find a solution for whatever was ailing him or someone he knew. He had volumes of books on the subject of natural health and was an invaluable wealth of knowledge. Leland is survived by his children, Vivian Lee Kuylor, Aberdeen, WA, Marsha Ann Malsom, Spokane, WA, Mary Ellen (Rooks) Goben, Kennewick, WA, Ronald I. Dykman, Pocatello, ID, Ross James Woolley, Pleasanton, CA; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Leland will be greatly missed by all who knew him!! He is preceded in death by his father, Leland Smith Woolley Sr; mother, Kathryn Betty Dunbar; sister, Marjorie Beth (Dunn) Woolley; daughter, Machell Alizabeth Woolley; grandsons, Brian Troy Malsom, Carson Dykman and Cameron Justin Dykman. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 10:30-11 am at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500, with memorial services starting at 11 am also at Colonial Funeral Home. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID 83204.
