Lela M. Taysom Mooney, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 7, 2020 at the Idaho State Veterans Home. Lela was born in Pocatello, Idaho on April 27, 1933 to Harold and Mary Taysom and was 1 of 6 children. She leaves behind her siblings; Shirley Davis (Dave) and Ray Taysom (Debbie). Lela also leaves behind her 6 children; Jerrie Allred (Blaine), Vickie Newell (Mike), Garry Steve Anderson, Jim Anderson (Claudine), Debbie Mooney (Jerry) and Bart Mooney (Kelli); her 14 beautiful grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Lela was raised and attended school in Inkom, Idaho. She married her first husband Garry Anderson on September 4, 1948 in Pocatello, Idaho with whom she had 4 of her beautiful children; Jerrie, Vickie, Steve and Jim. They later divorced in 1956 and she went on to meet the love of her life Ken Mooney, while working at the Country Club on South Bannock Hwy. Lela and Ken married August 20, 1957 in Las Vegas, Nevada and were blessed with 2 more beautiful children; Debbie and Bart. She and Ken were sealed in the Temple shortly after Kens passing in 2005. Lela spent 36 years working at Lamb Weston in American Falls until she retired. Even after retirement she continued to work with Lamb Weston every harvest until she was unable to do so. Lela was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a heart made of gold and could not bear to see any living thing go without (ask all the strays), if you needed something, she would make sure you got it. She loved camping and fishing, spending time with family and traveling the United States with Ken and bringing back some of the most amazing pictures to share with us. She never missed an event, whether it was a birthday, a sporting event for one of her grandchildren or going out to the Pocatello Speedway every Saturday with all the family to support her son and daughter racing out there. Her family was her pride and joy and she was the glue that held us together. She will be missed by so many but, we know she is reunited with the love of her life and will be waiting for all of us, until we all meet again. Lela is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mary Taysom; her husband, Kenneth Mooney; sisters, Vida Timothy, Mert Hedstrom and Alta Bowman; as well as her son-in-law, Blaine Allred. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID from 9:30 am until 10:30 am with service to follow at 11 am. We will then escort Lela to her final resting place in the Inkom Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at 12:30 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 4010 Hawthorne Rd. Pocatello, Idaho 83202. Our family would also like to give a special, thank you to all the amazing staff at the Idaho State Veterans Home. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the amazing care you provided in keeping Lela as comfortable and pain free as you could in her last days here with us.
