Lea Joy McKinlay Armstrong, 83, a lifelong resident of Pocatello, a very classy lady, passed away quietly from an extended illness on April 7, 2016 surround by family and loved ones. She was a wonderful woman, wife and mother of 7, Wayne, Kelie, Rick, Rob, K.C., Martin, & Russell. She was a grandmother of 17, and great-grandmother of 34. She was born July 14, 1932 to James Lavon McKinlay and Hazel Catherine Murdock. She was the youngest of four: brothers, Lavon and Calvin and a sister, Donna. She attended Pocatello High School where she met LaMar Armstrong. They were married November 6, 1948. Lea worked at the Rialto and Chief Theaters as well as J. C. Penneys in her early years. Lea ran a successful childcare business from their home while helping LaMar in his businesses, which included, A & E Auto Body Shop, Farming, Real Estate and Rental Property. Lea also operated her own business, Lea Joys Fashions, for several years. Lea was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints and loved and participated in her church responsibilities. Lea and LaMar had a passion for pretty things and an obsession for antiques. She was a great cook and loved to accommodate family who would drop by for a visit. You would never leave their home hungry. She loved to be around people and go and do new things. Going to the movies was one of their special times together. They saw "Rocky" more than 10 times. A viewing will take place on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 11 am at the LDS Independence Ward Chapel, 4773 Independence Ave. Chubbuck, ID 83202. Visitation prior to services will be offered at 10 am for one hour. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens 2864 S. 5th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83204.
