Lawrence Allenbaugh

Lawrence Ray Allenbaugh, 65, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family on April 10, 2014. Larry was born on August 6, 1948 in Marysville, CA and grew up and attended schools in Sutter, CA. After high school, he enrolled in the U.S. Army and served in Viet Nam and Germany. After his discharge from the Army, he went to school at Yuba College in Marysville, and then began his career in Radiology at Redding Memorial Hospital, Redding, CA and the University of California at Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA where he met his wife and the love of his life, Diane Fontan. His love of fishing and the great outdoors eventually brought him to Pocatello where he worked at Pocatello Regional Medical Center as the Coordinator of the Cardiac Cath and Special Procedures Lab. After his retirement, he continued to work for Intermountain Health Care as a radiation safety consultant. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, sport shooting, and anything to do with the outdoors. His pride and joy were his children Derek and Kristi, and his granddaughter, Cora. Larry was a leader in the creation of Pocatello's first shooting range open to the public, Oregon Trail Shooting Range, and the establishment of the Gate City Sport Shooting Association, serving as President for many years. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Diane; son, Derek Allenbaugh (Mary) of Spring Creek, NV; daughter, Kristi Thiel (Matthew) of Anchorage, AK; and granddaughter, Cora of Anchorage, AK. He is also survived by his parents Ruby and Clyde Kelley of Sutter, CA; Dee T. and Anna Belle Allenbaugh of Orland, CA; brother, Ken Kelley (Christine) of Yuba City, CA; and sisters, Connie O'Rourke (Toney), Linda Alvey (Rick), Debbie Everett (Parke) of Yuba City, CA, and Darlene Wilbanks, of Selma, CA. Also, by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Lawrence and Velma Allenbaugh and Benjamin and Mary Viola Ragan. The family wishes to thank the entire Encompass Home Health and Hospice team for their compassionate, loving and expertly experienced care given to Larry and his family. Without them, we could not have cared for him in the loving environment of his home. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at 4:00 p.m., Grace Lutheran Church, 1350 Baldy Avenue, Pocatello. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Sutter, California. Larry was dearly loved by his family, friends, and co-workers , He will be missed by all who knew him.
