Lawan Caldwell

March 16, 1948 — August 17, 2015

On August 17th, our angel wife and mother passed away peacefully at home due to the long endured effects of multiple sclerosis.

Cherril LaWan Millward Caldwell was born in Pocatello Idaho, on March 16, 1948 to Andrew Cleon Millward and Thelma Ivy Crapo. As the youngest of 10 children, she was raised by devoted parents who laid the foundation for her life of service and love. She grew up in Pocatello where she attended Pocatello High School, graduating in 1966.

After high school she attended Brigham Young University, studying English/Lit. Following her first year of college she returned home for the summer and was employed by J.C. Penney where she caught the eye of a handsome young man by the name of Lee Caldwell, a fellow employee. It didn't take long for them to realize they couldn't stand to be without each other. They were married on June 5, 1970 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

Her dream of a large family was realized over the next 12 years which brought the births of nine children. She spent the next 30 years changing diapers, going to t-ball and basketball games, attending choir concerts, baking bread, making stew, refereeing fights, and going school shopping. She had a nursery rhyme, poem, or song to lighten any situation. All of which continue to bring joy to her children.

Her entire life was spent in selfless service to her family and to the Lord. She endured every trial with unwavering faith, strength, and a healthy dose of humor. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many positions with her simple but powerful testimony. Although her physical strength and words faded, her sparkling blue eyes and smile never did.

She is survived by her husband; 7 of her children, Alison (Bill) Fullmer of Pocatello, Blaine (Kim) Caldwell of Ammon, ID, Jeff (Katy) Caldwell of Ammon, ID, Doug (Marie) Caldwell of West Bountiful, UT, Mandy Caldwell of Pocatello, Natalie Caldwell of Murray, UT, Dana (Dan) Murphy of West Bountiful, UT; 21 grandchildren with 3 on the way; sisters, Laila Sorensen, Carolyn Johnson, and JoAnne Belk; and brothers, Steve Millward and Dwight Millward.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin daughters; brothers, Gene Millward and Loraine Millward; sisters, Ivy Ray and Bonnie Harker; and 3 infant grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 20, from 6-8 pm at the Wilks Funeral Home at 211 W. Chubbuck Rd. in Chubbuck. The funeral will be held at the Pocatello Idaho North Stake Chapel at 4890 Whitaker Rd. in Chubbuck on Friday, August 21, at 11 am with a viewing prior to the services at 10 am. Interment will follow services in the Mountain View Cemetery in Pocatello.

The family would like to thank One Source Hospice, Friends and Family Home Health, all of her wonderful caregivers, and the Canterbury Ward. Condolences may be sent to the family online at wilksfuneralhome.com.
