Laverna Branson

POCATELLO - LaVerna Branson, 87, of Pocatello, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012, at a local care center. She was born on July 23, 1924, to Andrew and Luella Hansen in Pocatello. She was raised and attended local schools in Pocatello. LaVerna married Jack Branson. They had three children Bud, Denny, and LeeAnn. Jack passed away in 1953 and she later married Wally Weigand. She was employed by Western Auto, First Security Bank, IB&T Bank, Bannock Memorial Hospital and Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel. She was a hard worker, loved to work, and was very efficient in the all that she did. She loved her family which was her whole life. LaVerna was a lifetime member of the Elks, loved to golf and bowl. She played in many golf tournaments. She also loved to sew and knit and was an excellent seamstress. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. LaVerna is survived by her 3 children: Bud (BJ) Branson of Boise, ID; Dennis J. Branson of Show Low, AZ; and LeeAnn (Leon) Manning of Pocatello; brother Earl (Sterlla) Hansen of Salt Lake City, UT; 7 grandchildren Kellie, Shane, Tracie, Kristie, Holli, Justin, Eddie; 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 grand-puppies. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Jack Branson and Wally Weigand, brother Eldon Hansen, two sisters Wilma Schoonover and Theda Thorne, and great-grandson Dakota Manning. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012, at Mountain View Cemetery, 36 West, Row 8.
