Mom's earthly journey was completed on November 27, 2016 in Ogden, UT.
Laurel Norine Hirschi Thomas was born February 19, 1930 in Sugar Salem, ID to parents John Henry and Florence Mabel Hirschi. She was their 4th child. Mom attended school in Sugar Salem and later in Pocatello.
She married Boyd David Thomas on December 27, 1950 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 26, 1964. She raised 8 children.
Mom's hobbies and interests included crocheting, reading, coloring, dancing, singing and loving her children and spoiling her grandchildren.
Mrs. Thomas worked hard all her life starting on the family farm and later as a housekeeper and custodian. She retired from Idaho State University in 1993 to move to Ogden to be with her daughter.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and enjoyed the privilege of serving in many callings in the nursery, primary, relief society, and choir.
The family would like to thank the staff members and caregivers of Harrison Pointe Care Center and Inspiration Hospice of Ogden, UT for their loving care.
Laurel is survived by her children Alan (Cindy), Lauralee (Bucky) Hess, Kim and Wendy Kaye and 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and a cherry and 1 brother Brent (Evelyn) Hirschi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Boyd, her children Karen Lynne, Paula Kaye (Burns), Duane Boyd and Kristyne and granddaughter Audra Hess.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, 2864 South 5th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family under the "Share a Memory" tab on this page.
