Larue 'Pete' Irene Sturgill

December 22, 1951 — November 2, 2021

Larue “Pete” Irene Sturgill, 69, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. Pete was born December 22nd 1951 to Lloyd and Martha Chavez in Idaho Falls Idaho. She grew up in multiple states where she helped raise her 7 younger sisters and 1 brother. She has always enjoyed quilting, hunting, fishing, camping, shopping, cooking, and baking; the item she is famous for was her cinnamon rolls and bread. She loved spending time with her family, taking road trips to see family close by and far away; she really enjoyed holiday gatherings. She loved going to lunch with her friends especially her weekly lunches with Ranae.

Pete met the love of her life “Rick” Rodney Sturgill whom she married in Elko Nevada on May 19th, 1979. They lived in Wyoming, Pocatello, Idaho, and in the 1980’s they eventually settled in McCammon on a ranch, The Yellow Rose, with their two daughters Shannen and Mickey

Pete worked in health care beginning in her early teens, until she retired. It was then she started her own fight to survive. Many people may not have always known what she was going through, because she was always happy spirited and a go-getter; a fighting spirit like no other. She worked in the Burley hospital for a short stent, and 18 years at the Bannock hospital in Pocatello, Idaho. She worked there as a floater doing many different jobs; all in the manner of giving care to others. She continued to care for all those she loved. Pete loved people in general even those she didn’t know. She believed in always being kind, but to speak your mind, and live life in the now.

Pete is survived by her daughters: Shannen Frey, Pocatello ID. Mickey (John Jr) Palmer, Pocatello ID; her grandson, Rick “RJ” Palmer, Pocatello, ID; granddaughters, Chelsie (Jordan) Honas, Idaho Falls, ID, Shaela Gilbert, Pocatello, ID; Lacee Peterson, Blackfoot, ID, Paige (Norman) Cay, Pocatello, ID; great granddaughter, Ally Rue Honas; five sisters, Kathy, Carol, Bobbi, Lenny, Sherry; and many nephews and nieces who she loved dearly.

She is proceeded in death by her Husband Rodney “Rick” Sturgill, both of her Parents, Lloyd “ Cha- Cha” and Martha “Mae” Chavez; her brother Melvin Chavez and her two sisters Debbie Stewart and Gail “GuGu” Marquez.
