Anna LaRue Paskins Coombs, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in the arms of her family on 13 July 2013 in Pocatello, Idaho. LaRue was born on 11 March 1929 to George William Paskins and Anna Elizabeth Ashbaker Paskins in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
LaRue grew up in Grace, Idaho and attended Grace High School where she met her life-long sweetie, David Allen Coombs. David and LaRue were sealed for time and eternity on 27 October 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple in Logan, Utah and made their home in Thatcher and Grays Lake, Idaho where they were blessed with a son and four daughters.
After David's retirement, they sold the ranch in Thatcher and moved to a lovely new home in Ivins, Utah where they lived happily for several years making many good friends, serving a mission at the Family History Center in St. George, and enjoying the warm climate and beauty of the desert and the cactus blossoms.
LaRue served in many Church callings throughout her life, including many years as Relief Society President in the Thatcher Ward and different callings in the Young Women's Presidency in the Grace Idaho Stake. Her life was marked by endless acts of compassionate service. She dearly loved music and was actively engaged in singing in the choirs at church and performing with the Singing Mothers, as well as always humming and singing around the home and imparting her love of music to her children. Her sweet and gentle presence will be missed by us all.
She is survived by her sweetheart of 64 years, David; her son David Keith (Ila) Coombs of Novato, CA; daughters Annette (Glen) Cooley of Chubbuck, ID; Julie (Pete) Torres of Rock Spring, WY; Linda of Logan, UT; and Jana (Barclay Hastings) Coombs of Salt Lake City, UT; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two brothers Merrill (Norma) Paskins of Salt Lake City, UT and Ron (Linda) Paskins of Fair Oaks, CA; two sisters Helen (Verland, deceased) Roholt of Soda Springs, ID and Joan Ingalls of Bothell, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents and one great-grandson, Bradley Cooley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, 20 July 2013, in the LDS Chapel at 1700 Kinghorn Rd. A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, 19 July 2013, at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 West Chubbuck Rd., and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service at the Thatcher Cemetery at 2 p.m. An open house will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Thatcher-Williams Ward Chapel in Niter, ID for those who would like to visit with the family.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to neighbors, friends, and members of the Pocatello 41st Ward, Thatcher Ward, and the Wards in Ivins, for their kind thoughtfulness throughout the years, and to the staff of Access Home Health and Hospice for their extraordinary kindness, care, and compassion. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.wilksfuneralhome.com.
