Larry Weldon Poulson was born on March 12, 1952 in Aberdeen, Idaho and died tragically in a drowning accident on June 6, 2016. He is the son of Carol and Weldon Poulson. He attended Hillcrest Elementary School and graduated from American Falls High School in 1970. He started working for Barkdull Ranch right after high school. He met Deborah Ann Ankrum in the summer of 1972 and got married on January 6, 1973. They had three children, Kristan was born in July 1976, Brandon August 1979, and Jackie February 1981. Jackie tragically passed away on August 30, 2012. They divorced in January 1996. Larry started working for his dad and Jack Poulson in 1975. He continued to work there until 1976 he started working for Agri Beef Snake River Cattle Company in American Falls. He continued to work there until retiring 2010. After retiring, he purchased a home in Chubbuck, Idaho and lived there until his passing. He would continually use his dads tractor to help out neighbors, friends, and church members. He continually was remodeling his home and making updates. Also, irrigating his property out back, growing a garden, always making sure he had a horse of his own to take care of, and living life to the fullest that he could. Larry was involved with the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo for over 20 years. He was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease in 2002, but strived to make the best of life no matter the situation. He was a member of the LDS church. Served in the Cub Scout program and was currently involved in the singles committee. His hobbies included riding horses, shooting guns, fishing, helping with cattle branding, gardening, being a beekeeper, helping others with whatever they may need help with, coaching his kids when they were growing up, spending time with family and friends, country swing dancing, and continued to help anybody and anyone until his passing. Larry impacted so many souls by being himself and working hard. Larry was not a quitter and always finished every task, job, etc. to be the best he could be. Larry always put others before himself. Larry is survived by his mom, Carol Poulson Aberdeen, ID; daughter, Kristan Young (Kenny) Filer, ID; son, Brandon Poulson (Melissa) American Falls, ID; sister, Jeneil Hooper (Ron) Kingston, AZ; brother, Alan Poulson Syracuse, UT; sister, Sheri DeVore (Doug) Rigby, ID; brother, Clay Poulson Aberdeen, ID; sister, Deanne Hamilton (Brian) Salmon, ID; sister, Joy Poulson Aberdeen, ID; sister, Jolyn Reed Pocatello, ID; grandsons, Joshua, Austin, Lucas, Daxton, Daeton, and Dalton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his dad, Weldon Poulson; nephew, Brian Hooper; and daughter, Jackie Poulson. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, Idaho 83201, 208-233-1500. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 11 am at the Tyhee 7 th Ward LDS Stake Building, 12146 Tyhee Road, Pocatello, ID 83202, with a visitation from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services at the church.
