Larry Dee Sanders

August 1, 1954 — June 8, 2014

Larry Dee Sanders, 59, passed away on June 8th 2014, at home with his family by his side, from metastatic melanoma. He will be remembered by many as a very caring, generous soul. He was always the first one to offer to help anyone in need.

Larry was born as the second son to Douglas Max Sanders and Wanda Curtis Sanders on August 1st, 1954. He was a loving brother to Bob, Penny, Vicki, and Gary. He spent his childhood fishing, hunting, camping, and skiing. Larry lost his father when he was only 16, and this was very hard on him. He attended school in Pocatello and joined the Army National Guard soon after. He worked in various tire stores from a very young age beginning with Ogden's Tire Store in Blackfoot, then Jims Bannock Tire in Pocatello, and next to Pocatello Tire. In 1993, he was hired as the manager of Jack's Tire and Oil in Pocatello, where he continued to work until ill health forced him into retirement in 2013.

Larry married Jackie Earline Sorenson on December 31st, 1982, and became an instant father to Jackie's daughters, Heather and Nicole. Christopher followed in 1983 and Jason in 1987. In 2011 he was happy to discover that he had another daughter, born in 1981, Shiloe, who he was able to develop a close relationship with.

The family had many great years together, with so many wonderful memories. Camping, fishing, boating, and 4-wheeling at Bear Lake was his favorite. He also loved playing poker and scratching lottery tickets, and family get togethers. When his children got married, he developed a strong relationship with his son-in-laws, Jason and Greg, and his daughter-in-law, Laura. When his grandchildren were born, they were the apple of his eye. He always made Tyler, Alec, Addison, Dalton, and Peighton feel special.

Larry is survived by his wife, Jackie, Pocatello; mother Wanda Burgoyne, Blackfoot; two brothers, Gary (Natalie) Sanders, Blackfoot, and Bob (BJ) Sanders, Las Cruces, New Mexico; one sister, Vicki (Jim) Robinson, Medford, Oregon; Brothers in law Kurt, Mark, and Tim (Lori) Sorenson; three daughters, Heather (Jason) Thomsen, Nicole (Greg) Terpstra, and Shiloe Henderson; two sons, Chris (Laura) Sanders, and Jason Sanders; and five grandchildren, Tyler, Alec, Addison, and Dalton Thomsen, and Peighton Henderson. Larry was preceded in death by his father Douglas Sanders, stepfather Donald Burgoyne, sister Penny Ann, grandparents, sister-in-law Tammy Shell, father-in-law Jack Sorenson, and mother-in-law Ruth Sorenson.

The family would like to express their thanks to the Portneuf Cancer Center and Encompass Home Health for their loving care of the whole family, and especially Larry.
