Larry Dean Evans

d. March 8, 2017

Larry Dean Evans was born on September 10, 1951 to Berniece Bowman Evans and Willis Dudley Evans. He was one of two children, the younger brother of Wayne Willis Evans. He was very proud of his family heritage here in Marsh Valley because they settled in Cambridge and Robin, Idaho. Dad attended school at McCammon Elementary and later Marsh Valley High School where he gained many of his lifelong friends such as Barry Hall, Craig Hall, Nick Rowe, the Howell boys, Cowboy Dave Phillips and many others. Later he graduated from Marsh Valley High School in 1969. He joined the National Guard in a Tank Unit and attended Basic Training in Kentucky. He was honorably discharged after 12 years as a Staff Sergeant. In 1974 he met the dynamic, lovely lady that would later be his wife, Peggy A. Whitworth. They were sealed together for eternity in the Logan Temple on September 20, 1974. Over the next 12 years they were blessed with the most beautiful, intelligent six children: Dani, Marshall, Cameron, Janae, Ashley and Whitney. Larry was the most kind and loving Father. His family and children meant so much to him. He enjoyed being outdoors and taking us on family camping trips to White Clouds, Jackson Hole and Island Park. He enjoyed snowmobiling, softball, boating, water skiing, and fast cars. He was an excellent mechanic and had his own shop for a while. Dad had many jobs within Bannock County, Road & Bridge and later Union Pacific Railroad for 28 years. He later retired in 2013. Dad was a great cook and loved using his Dutch ovens. Many times he would cook for different activities and loved when his children would come along to help. He enjoyed cooking and serving large groups of people. He made the BEST fried chicken and Dutch oven potatoes around. It was a talent that he acquired from his mother. She was also an amazing cook and Larry learned a lot from her. He loved his family. He passed away peacefully on the morning of March 8, 2017. He was preceded in death by his mother; father; and brother; as well as his niece, Camille Whitworth Dean, who were all taken too soon. What a beautiful reunion that must have been. We love you Dad and look forward to seeing you again someday. Thank you for your love, kindness and example. Those who knew him best remember his soft heart, kind smile and undying devotion to his family and friends. He would and did sacrifice any and all that he had for those he loved. Larry is survived by his wife Peggy; as well as their children, Dani Evans and her children, Sophie, Cassie, Alexa, and Matthew England, Marshall (Raena) and their children, Tyler, Tanner, Robbie Jo, Michael, Allie, Charly and Benjamin Evans, Cameron (Josie) and their children, Aidan, Finley, Liam and Ethan Evans, and his daughters Janae, Ashley and Whitney Evans. He is also survived by the Evans/Herrera Family, whom he loved dearly, and the Lin and Carol Whitworth Family who accepted him immediately and cared for him as one of their own. A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 5-7 pm at the LDS McCammon Stake Center, 403 W. 16th St. McCammon, ID 83250.
