LaVell B. Winn, former long-time resident of Pocatello, passed away October 27, 2013, in South Jordan, Utah. LaVell was born in Tropic, Utah September 7, 1924 to Mary Ahlstrom and Clarence Frank Winn. He moved to Sandy, Utah soon after. He attended Sandy Junior High and Jordan High School. Later he worked at Galigher Company where he met his wife Elma Hill. They married June 5,1945 and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. After moving to Pocatello in 1951, he started an industrial supply business, Pocatello Supply Inc. LaVell served several years as the state of Idaho representative to the National Industrial Distributor's Association. He served two terms on the B.F. Goodrich Rubber Company Advisory Council. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce for several years. LaVell is the father of six children, Jane (Davies), Sandy (Crow), Bill Winn, Susan (Kirkland), Bonnie (Andre), and Kelly Winn. He spent time camping with his family, hunting with his wife and son, and golfing with family, friends, and business associates. He hosted annual vacations for his children and grandchildren at Bear Lake for over 60 years. He especially loved planning a fiftieth wedding anniversary party for his wife and children in San Diego. Presently he has twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. LaVell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in several callings including, Stake Mission President, Bishop and member of the Pocatello West Stake Presidency. He and Elma loved to watch local high school sports even long after their children had graduated. Also, they often traveled to Provo for BYU football and basketball games. LaVell and Elma loved to travel to places such as Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. The family would like to give special thanks to LaVell's caretakers at Beehive Homes and Compass Rehabilitation Center. Private visitation and services for LaVell will take place on Saturday, November 2, 2013. Internment will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
