Kirk Francis Campbell was born May 20, 1961 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the son of Richard and Geri Campbell. He moved with his family from Jackson Hole to Kemmerer, Wyoming and he graduated from Kemmerer High School in 1979. Kirk started working for the FMC Coke Plant in Kemmerer after high school. While working there, he met Vanesia Mitchell. Kirk and Vanesia were married September 18, 1982, and had three children while living in Kemmerer. In 1997, Kirk and Vanesia and their three children moved to Pocatello, Idaho where Kirk and Vanesia were hired by the FMC Plant. He obtained his Associates degree in instrumentation from Idaho State University. Kirk was hired by Simplot as an instrumentation technician. He obtained his Journeyman's Electrician License while working at Simplot. In 2009 Kirk was hired by CH2M Hill and worked for six years on the North Slope in Alaska. Kirk was then hired by the Idaho Transportation Department where he was presently employed. Kirk was an avid outdoors man. He loved hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends outdoors and took each of his children on fishing trips to Alaska. He loved watching westerns and John Wayne movies were his favorite. He spent countless hours in his shop restoring a 1946 Chevy pickup. Kirk thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could always make his six grandchildren laugh with his antics. Kirk always took care of those around him. He was a skilled handyman and was the first person friends and family would call when something needed to be fixed. He was quick to recognize when someone needed help and did not wait for them to ask. He was generous with his time especially when it came to helping others. Kirk passed away on February 18, 2017 in Rock Springs, Wyoming while on his annual fishing trip to the Flaming Gorge (he caught the most fish as of Saturday morning). Kirk is survived by his wife, Vanesia; his children, Kassidy (Adam), Liberty Lake, WA, Keaton (Tausha), Pocatello, Koby (Emily), West Richland, WA; his brother, Fred Campbell (Micky), Kemmerer, WY; his grandmother, Ruth Anderson (Pinedale); and his 6 grandchildren, Dexter, Malcolm, Beckett, Calvin, Kennedy, and Harrison.
