Keith Bennett Denton

September 12, 1960 — June 12, 2024

Pocatello

Keith Bennett Denton, 63, passed away on June 12, 2024. He was born on September 12, 1960 in Beaufort, South Carolina to William Curtis and Noreen Ann Denton.

His father was in the military, so he attended schools in many different states. He graduated from Saint Louis High School and received his Associates Degree in electronic technology while serving in the Navy.

In his youth he also enjoyed scouting and attained the ranks of Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow.

While in the Navy he discovered his love for martial arts and eventually earned his black belt. He continued his activity in martial arts throughout his adult life and enjoyed the opportunity to teach Taekwondo to other students in the last several years.

For part of his Navy duty he served as a plane captain, whose duties included being responsible for a final examination of the aircraft and guiding the pilots toward the runway. In this capacity he was selected as Plane Captain of the 3rd Quarter of Fiscal Year 1980. The award stated that he was one of the best and rated number one by his immediate supervisor and the squadron pilots. It also stated that his willingness to work long hours, coupled with his thorough knowledge as a TA-4 Plane Captain had aided in the squadron achieving its mission and that his professional approach toward all facets of his job greatly enhanced the safe operation of squadron aircraft.

He also served on the aircraft carrier, the USS Constellation, and while off duty in Mombasa, Kenya, he, along with three other crewmen, saved the lives of six Kenyans from a house fire.

He was a member of the Rocky Mountain Ministries church in Pocatello and often volunteered his time to help in a variety of tasks at the church, most recently serving in the coffee bar.

He used his mechanical skills to build himself an E-bike and loved working on his motorcycle and 1994 Toyota truck. He often used those same skills to help others with their vehicle problems.

He was a loving brother to all his siblings and was especially protective of his younger brothers. The kids at school and in the neighborhood knew not to bother them or they would have to deal with Keith.

He was very friendly and outgoing with a quick sense of humor. He had a big heart and was always ready to volunteer his services to help others. He will be very much missed by his mom, siblings, and nieces and nephews who survive him.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Denton. He is survived by his mother, Noreen Denton, sister Denise Farley {Richard}, brother David Denton {Gelynn}, brother Tim Denton {Lisa}, and sister Susan Flake {David}.
