Kathryn Thayle Nielson Mann Hansen, 81, passed away with her loving family by her side, on Sunday, December 29, 2019. Mom was born to Elmo and Wanda (Taylor) Nielson on September 4, 1938 in Logan, Utah. She received her education in Preston, Idaho, living throughout the states including Idaho, California, Utah, Arizona, Colorado and Oregon. She had various jobs throughout her life such as waitressing, student aid, selling Avon, Tupperware, and Beeline Clothing. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; serving faithfully in various callings. Kay was a people person, giving love to everyone. She enjoyed the out of doors camping and fishing when the opportunity came up. She enjoyed singing, cooking, home making, but most of all she enjoyed her precious family and friends. Moms life was full, not excluding her marriages. She married Gerald Sparrow and with this union they had four children; she then married Ron Stowell, which brought to her, and us, four more siblings; she then married her eternal companion Frank Mann, together they raised their adopted son. After Franks death she married Mel Brown, enjoying his family also. Mel passed after a short time which leads lastly her marriage to Dave Hansen, in which she also cherished his family for the past 3 years. She is survived by her husband, Dave Hansen; 8 children, Ken (Tammy) Sparrow, Rod (Susan) Sparrow, Brad (Kathy) Sparrow, Jeraldine Sparrow, Matt (Patti) Mann, Barbara Ryan, Sharlene (Mike) Hillyard, and Vicki Petzold; one brother, Noel (Angela) Nielson; two sisters, Loenza Oliverson, and Lynda (Larry) Todd; sister-in-law, Faith Nielson; 26 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren; many foster children and their kids, as well as many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in passing were her parents, Elmo and Wanda Nielson and Minnie, Elmos second wife; husbands, Frank Mann and Melvin Brown; brother, Scott Nielson; sister, Sharlene Spurlock; son, DeVearl Stowell; 1 granddaughter, Shantay Sparrow; and 2 great-granddaughters, Darcee A Sparrow and Brandy Lynn Possin; brothers-in-law, Richard Spurlock and Elmer Oliverson; as well as several foster children. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 6-8 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 S. 4 th Ave. Pocatello, ID. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11 am at the LDS church located at 2271 S. 4 th Ave. (Fredregill Rd.) Pocatello, ID, with a viewing for one hour prior. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 5 th Ave. Pocatello, ID.
